We NEED volunteers like YOU!!

Cub Scout Pack are completely run by Volunteers. Every person you see at every meeting and event are volunteers. There are less then a dozen paid employees for the entire Council. People volunteer so that all the Scouts have fun, learn and grow.

EVERY volunteer has a background check run on them when they sign up, and re-checked regularly to ensure Scout safety.
Every leader also completes on online Youth Protection Training, before they begin their role, and must be completed every 2 years.
Below are a list of volunteer positions we need filled. Please consider volunteering. There are several positions, some are directly with the Scouts and Dens, and some are on the Committee helping make things happen in the background. Each has different levels of time involved. If you have any questions please reach out to Ryan Meredith.
All positions have online training available, and there are several leaders that have a lot of scouting experience to lean on if needed.

There are also some “Unofficial” positions, which do not require any training or background checks. These are based on personal/professional skills a person may have i.e. Pack photographer, webmaster etc. These are not leadership positions of any kind so involvement with the Youth is limited to regular interaction like any scout parent would have.

The list below is in order of need.

Currently we are looking for Den Leaders for Lions (Kindergarten) Tigers (1st Grade) Wolves (2nd Grade) and Bears (3rd Grade) dens.
There are many tools and resources to help plan and execute the Cub Scouts adventures, leaning on senior leaders is highly encouraged.

Qualifications: Be a U.S. citizen at least 21 years of age and of good moral character. Should be interested in
and enjoy working with boys/girls and be able to work with adults. May be a parent of a Scout in the den.

Responsibilities: Den Leaders carry out the activities related to adventures as they are presented in the Cub Scout’s handbook and the Den Leader Guide.

The Den Leaders Guide will be provided by the Pack and returned at the end of the program year. The Den Leaders Guide has all the requirements and electives for the rank and provides a lesson plan for each. The Den Leader will be responsible to schedule which adventures will be done when and work with Pack Leadership to acquire any supplies needed. Several adventures can be done anytime, but some are season specific (i.e. plant a seed and water it for 30 days won’t work well in the winter)

At the Webelos (4th Grade) and AOL (5th Grade) level it is recommended that the Den Leader has previous scouting/outdoor experience as the Cub Scouts begin to prepare for the Scouting program.

  • Help the pack committee and Cubmaster establish a sound financial program for the pack with a pack budget plan.
  • Maintain a bank account in the pack’s name and arrange for all transactions to be signed by any two: Cubmaster, chair, secretary, or treasurer.
  • Approve all budget expenditures. Check all disbursements against budget allowances, and pay bills by check. The pack committee chair should approve bills before payment.
  • Collect dues from Cub Scout and Webelos den leaders at the pack leaders’ meeting, preferably in sealed den dues envelopes. Open envelopes in presence of den leaders or the den leader coach. Give receipts for these funds and deposit money in the bank account.
  • Keep up-to-date financial records. Enter all income and expenditures under the proper budget item in the finance section of the Pack Record Book. Credit each Cub Scout with payment of dues. From time to time, compare the records with those of the den leaders to make sure they are in agreement. Give leadership in developing a coordinated record keeping system in the pack.
  • Be responsible for thrift training within the pack. Encourage each den leader to explain the pack financial plan to each boy and his family, so that boys will accept responsibility for paying dues and parents will be alert for opportunities for boys to earn dues money and develop habits of thrift.
On request of den leaders, sympathetically counsel with a boy who does not pay dues, determine the reason, and encourage regular payment. If the boy is unable to pay, work out a plan with the Cubmaster and pack committee so the boy can earn dues.
  • Periodically report on the pack’s financial condition at the monthly pack meeting. Make regular monthly reports to the pack committee at pack leaders’ meeting, and report to chartered organization as often as desirable on the financial condition of the pack.
  • Provide petty cash needed by leaders. Keep a record of expenditures.
  • Guide the pack in conducting council-approved, pack money-earning projects.

  • Be provided with training both online and face to face.
  • Be mentored by the District Membership Chair and become part of the District Membership team.
  • Use a team approach by encouraging more than one NMC in a unit, allowing them to tailor their work to individual interests/expertise, as well as to recognize the particular needs of the unit.
