Cub Scouting is a year-round, family-oriented part of the Scouts BSA program designed for boys and girls who are in Kindergarten through 5th grades (or are 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 years of age). Pack 417 is in the the Georgia Carolina Council, in the Kiokee River Area.
Parents, leaders, and organizations work together to achieve the 10 purposes of Cub Scouting:

- Spiritual Growth
- Good Citizenship
- Sportsmanship and Fitness
- Family Understanding
- Respectful Relationships
- Personal Achievement
- Friendly Service
- Fun and Adventure
- Preparation for Scouts BSA (Formerly called Boy Scouts, which starts in 6th grade for Young Women/Men)
All the activities leaders plan relate to one or more of these purposes.
